Imperial Armour receives largest ever order

Imperial Armour.Personal protection equipment company Imperial Armour has received its largest contract in its 18 year history worth some R37.5 million.

This is the for the supply of military vests and helmets to an undisclosed ministry of defence in West Africa. It entails 4 500 vests with 3 000 helmets.

The client has placed three orders with Imperial Armour. Louisa Garland-Els, Managing Director of Imperial Armour, told defenceWeb that the client has been very happy with equipment delivered, resulting in additional business.

Imperial Armour manufacturers and offers a comprehensive range of personal protective equipment for the military; VIP protection; demining; security; police and anti-rioting as well as fire-fighting and rescue services. The company has supplied more than 75 countries as well as the United Nations. In Africa, Imperial Armour has supplied Namibia, Cameroon, Niger, Ghana, Rwanda, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania and Botswana, amongst others.

Imperial Armour regularly launches new products, and one of its latest is a quick release modular vest that can easily be configured according to different client requirements. Other new products include soft-touch gloves that allow the user to work a smartphone or touch screen; and a new modular anti-riot suit which can be attached to any style of vest.

Imperial Armour is expecting another order for demining aprons from the Middle East. Several years ago it received its largest order from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) armed forces, worth R17 million, for de-mining equipment.
