Department of Trade and Industry looking for IDEX exhibitors

IDEX exhibitors wantedThe South African Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) wants the local defence industry to stand up and be counted at next year’s IDEX in Abi Dhabi.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) exhibition is widely acknowledged as being one of the leading defence, safety and security exhibitions in the world. It takes place from, February 17 to 21 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and the deadline for submission of complete national pavilion forms is September 17, two days before South Africa’s own Africa Aerospace and Defence exhibition opens for business at AFB Waterkloof in Centurion.

The DTI will offer financial support to South Africans exporters wanting to use IDEX as a platform for their good and services. This is in the form of exhibition space and booth rental costs as well as freight forwarding of display materials. There are additional advantages for defence industry small and medium-sized enterprises (SMMEs) and black-owned entities (BOEs) going to IDEX under the DTI umbrella – they qualify for substantial air travel assistance and a daily subsistence allowance of R3 000 a day.

Enquiries regarding applications for the exhibition are available from Tshepiso Malunga (012-394-3294/ TMalunga@thedti.gov.za) or Dineo Seeme (012-394-1560/Dseeme@thedti.gov.za).
