German Tigers resume flights in Mali

A German Tiger in Mali.German Tigers are once again flying in Mali after a fatal crash in July, according to the German Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The German MoD said that for more than two months, none of the German Tiger helicopters were flying with the MINUSMA (United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali), but a successful ‘inspection flight’ has taken place, and from 4 October the helicopters were scheduled to be able to resume operations for the United Nations.

After the crash of a Tiger helicopter on 26 July 2017 in Mali, flight operations can now be resumed under certain conditions, after the latest findings of the ongoing investigation into the crash, which killed both pilots.

There are currently restrictions on speed, coupled with weight limits and the use of the autopilot.
