Armscor seeking maintenance of SAAF fire trucks in the DRC

A SAAF firefighting truck.Armscor has issued a tender for the maintenance and repair of South African Air Force (SAAF) fire fighting vehicles in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The tender, issued on 14 June, has a closing date of 10 July and is for the maintenance and repair of MAN fire fighting vehicles for the 2017/18 financial year, 2018/19 financial year and 2019/2020 financial year. The delivery period for the maintenance and repair spans between October 2017 and February 2020.

“The South African Air Force requires contracted services for the maintenance and repair of MAN fire fighting vehicles that are currently deployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The vehicles are to be serviced and returned back to a centralised nodal point,” the tender document states. “The vehicles have been identified for corrective (D-level maintenance), preventative (I-level) and operational support (O-level) on the MAN chassis cab and the Rosenbauer Superstructure.”

The fire trucks are presumably in the DRC to support the South African Air Force’s three Rooivalk attack helicopters and five Oryx medium transport helicopters deployed with the United Nations mission there (Monusco).
