New Chief of Corporate Staff Services for SANDF

altLieutenant Veejay Ramlakan takes over from Major General Tim Dlulane, who has been acting in the position at Defence Force headquarters.

Ramlakan will vacate his current position as Surgeon General on April 1 and move up the road from the SA Military Health Service headquarters in Kasteel Park to the Armscor campus where the country’s military headquarters is housed.

He is replaced as surgeon general by Major General Aubrey Sedibe who earns promotion to the rank of Lieutenant General when he becomes the military’s number one medic at the beginning of next month.

Sedibe is currently chief director: military health force preparation and was previously general officer commanding the Military Health Formation. Prior to that he spent five years in the directorate: physical training and sport recreation.

A former MK member, he was wounded in Angola and moved to Germany for medical treatment. In the European country he continued his medical studies including laboratory diagnostics as well as receiving the Humboldt University Award bursary.

On his return to South Africa Sedibe integrated into the SANDF and worked as a medical officer at 1 Military Hospital in the urology and surgery departments.

He has completed all military courses, from officer formative to the Executive National Security Programme and also spent four years as the general officer commanding of I Military Hospital in Thaba Tshwane, the defence force’s flagship medical institution.

In another senior appointment Major General Jeremia Nyembe has been made Chief of Defence Intelligence. When he takes up his new post on April 1 he will also be promoted to Lieutenant General. He was previously deputy in the same department.
